Morning Devotion: No Title Needed
“…. sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.”
I am learning this verse now—learning how to live sorrowfully yet rejoicing. Learning how to hold both truths in the same pair of hands. Learning how to breathe through the ache of fifty years of silence and still feel the steady rise of joy GOD keeps planting in me.
I am learning how to let myself feel the sorrow of what happened to that little girl…the one was hurt, the one who lost her innocence, the one who listened to survive by disappearing.
And I am learning how to rejoice—not because the pain was small but because God is bigger.
I am learning how to rejoice because HE’s finally touching the places I thought were untouchable. I am learning how to rejoice because HE’s giving me a voice after half a lifetime of swallowing the truth. I am learning how to rejoice because HE’s showing me that the woman I am today is not defined by what was done to the child I used to be.
What This Scripture Means in My Story
Sorrowful:
I carry grief in my bones.
I carry the weight of choices I made while trying to fill a hole carved by trauma.
I chased men who mirrored my wounds instead of my worth.
I wasn’t looking for love—I was looking for the part of me that went missing.
Yet always rejoicing:
Because God never stopped pursuing me.
He kept a spark alive even when shame tried to smother it.
He kept whispering that my story was not over.
He kept pulling me toward healing, toward truth, toward courage.
Having nothing yet possessing everything:
I lost so much.
But GOD is giving back more than I ever imagined—not in the form of what was stolen, but in the form of strength, clarity, healing, and a voice that refuses to shout what HE has done and is doing in my life.
This is the chapter in my life, where I stop whispering.
This is the chapter where I stop apologizing for surviving.
This is the chapter where I let GOD turn my life story into a testimony, filled with HIS love and HIS truths.
I am finally telling the truth.
And the truth is setting me free.
“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive…..” Genesis 50:20
Lord, YOU know every year of silence, every wound, every wrong turn, every search for love that led to more hurt. Thank YOU for meeting me in the places I never thought could heal. Thank YOU for giving me a voice again. Keep restoring me. Keep strengthening me. Keep teaching me how to live sorrowfully yet rejoicing. And Lord, let me shine your love to all of those hurting, loved ones and even my enemies. Thank YOU for saving me from the pit of hell. Amen.
